Stories to Build Courage
Thanks to Daneen Akers, Watchfire Media, and everyone behind Holy Troublemakers & Unconventional Saints for sharing this Great Idea.
They write,
‘In honor of the Season of Nonviolence [which begins today (January 30) and runs through April 4], and especially in light of all that has happened in Minneapolis, we are offering [free access to] the full Bayard Rustin chapter, along with its companion curriculum, coloring pages, and audiobook chapter.’
‘These dates honor the 64 days between the anniversaries of the deaths of Mohandas Gandhi on January 30 and Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4.’
Rep. John Lewis urged us to get into good trouble. Lewis’s good trouble flows from Bayard Rustin’s concept of ‘angelic trouble’.
‘The curriculum is rooted in the belief that the stories we tell matter – a lot. We need these stories of holy resisters to help us find courage and inspiration. And, as storytelling creatures, stories are the only way to teach values and purpose.’
