Pocket Prayers

This Great Idea is already happening in congregations across the country. Thank you, knitters and crocheters, for putting your prayers into actions of comfort and presence.

About two weeks ago, one South Minneapolis congregation received a large bag of Pocket Prayer Cloths from another congregation in Washington State.

The Pocket Prayers are a tangible sign of solidarity and partnership from one congregation to another.

The Minneapolis congregation shares the Pocket Prayers with neighbors in need of comfort and support and presence.

Creating the Pocket Prayers is a spiritual practice for those who do the knitting or crocheting.

As tragedies and traumas continue to unfold and as communities attempt to move into spaces of repair and (maybe?) healing, Pocket Prayers are a small token of presence. They let the recipient know they are seen; that someone, maybe even a whole community, cares about their well-being.
