Sweet Darkness – Lectio Divina

Thanks to Drew Benson, PhD, LP, for sharing this Great Idea in his LeaderWise post.

Recognizing the upcoming winter solstice, when ‘the balance of darkness to light in our days reaches its peak’ and we again are offered, ‘the yearly invitation to reflect upon darkness and [our] relationship to it’, Benson invites us to a practice of Lectio Divina with David Whyte’s poem, Sweet Darkness.

Read Benson’s outline of the practice and find a link to the poem in its entirety, here.

This practice is perfect for individuals but might also be shared in small groups with youth, YA, and adults. It is also appropriate as part of a solstice/Longest Night observance.

Enjoy.
