Serviceberry Bible & Book Study

Thanks to Rev. Patrick Neitzey from Building Faith for sharing this Great Idea!

Rev. Neitzey begins with some background for how the group discerned that Robin Wall Kimmerer’s recent publication, The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World (Simon & Schuster) would be their next book study book.

He then offers a gentle three-question Book Study Structure – and the ‘why’s’ behind it.

The three questions are:

  1. In what ways did you experience or observe God’s presence over the last week?
  2. In what ways did you feel distant from God this past week?
  3. How would you like to grow in your relationship with God this next week?

Neitzey paired the seven chapters of The Serviceberry with biblical texts, supplemental readings from theologians and agrarian writers, and guiding questions across four weeks. He also created an introduction week to invite members into the series.
