Pandemic Lighting of the Advent Wreath
Rev. Elsa Anders Cook shines as usual with this pile of Great Ideas (there are lots in here!).
First, Rev. Cook highlights a congregation that formed zoom groups early on in the pandemic – groups which continue to meet often. These groups brought disparate individuals into regular, intimate conversation with one another which elevated a lot of stress for congregational leadership (with regard to visiting and ensuring the well-being of all), bonded the congregation, and developed significant personal relationships.
“Zoom pods” also created exciting ways to develop worship practices that will continue to enhance on-line worship into the future.
So, first Great Idea: Zoom pods.
Second Great Idea: Cook’s Pandemic Liturgy for Advent – a Wreath Lighting liturgy which includes links to free downloadable painting/music videos for each of the four Sundays in Advent (highlighting Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love). Check out the wonderful artistry here.
Third, you can find group studies and additional ideas for Advent in Elsa’s “kitchen”, here.
Watch for additional wreath lighting ideas as the UCC Family Faith Toolkits are unveiled!
