Encouragement Day Self-Care

Thanks to Rev. Traci Smith for sharing these accessible tips for everyday self-care in her Treasure Box Tuesday.

Traci encourages engaging the six weeks of daily sacred self care offered by Dr. Chanequa Walker Barnes in her recent book, Sacred Self Care (HarperCollins, 2023), emphasizing that, ‘It’s Lent. Lent is the perfect time for true self care… Sacred Self-Care takes you through six weeks of self care, one day at a time. We’re already into the season of Lent, but don’t sweat it. Self-care can run on into the season of resurrection as well.’

Additional to checking out Dr. Walker Barnes’ book, Smith offers the following tips:

  1. When you are in a hurry, slow down.
  2. Tackle hard parts of the day early.
  3. Don’t try to do it alone.
