One Person Makes a Difference

This Great Idea is basically a direct quote of Katharine Hayhoe’s latest Talking Climate post (read it in full here), in which she shares three stories of particular individuals whose actions have changed the course of climate care – not always for the better – for years.

Read about:

  • the pro-active professor whose foresight and pre-planning counteracted NIMBY-ism (‘Not in My Back Yard’-ism) and paved the way for battery storage sites in New York State;
  • the one 76-year-old retired woman who has blocked two out of five proposed wind turbine projects in La Grande, Oregon – using the system established to approve them;
  • the life-long aviation enthusiast and British pilot-turned-climate activist working to change the aviation industry to becomes more sustainable for workers and more compatible with climate science.

How can leaders equip and empower individuals – and families/households to stand for climate justice in your community?

From the second story, we learn the incredible power of Truth in moving folx toward justice rather than an uninformed advocacy for harmful policies. Read about the importance of consistent, clear, prophetic Truth in this week’s other Great Idea, Martyrdom & Truth.
