Forts
This Great Idea stems directly from the book by the same name:
Forts affirms: Everyone needs a room of their own. A place to hide and play, ponder and dream. Whether it’s a tree house in the backyard or a blanket fort inside, a fort is a magical place filled with imagination and wonder.
Whether inside or out – or both at different times – share this book, then take a wondering wander to find the perfect place to build a fort.
Then build, using couch cushions, cardboard boxes, plants, etc. (for inside); tree limbs, ferns, wood scraps, etc. (for outside). Bring youth and adults – all ages – along. Share fort-building stories. Share fort-building flops. Share stories once the fort is built.
Will it be permanent? Temporary? How many different fun activities can utilize this fort?
Ensure the fort is a safe space for all by sharing Boundaries & Safety reminders with all youth and adults.
